Method

  1. Rinse the barley, then add it to the liquid with the salt.
  2. Bring to a boil and simmer on low, stirring occasionally, until soft and creamy, about 30–35 minutes.
  3. Add a splash more liquid if it thickens too fast, then serve with butter and honey, or savoury with cheese.
