  1. Bring the liquid and salt to a gentle boil.
  2. Stir in the rye flakes, lower the heat and simmer, stirring now and then, until thick and soft, about 12–15 minutes.
  3. Rest off the heat for two minutes, then serve topped with honey, berries or grated apple.
